The Best Class in the School
What an absolutely terrific day we had today. First off we put the finishing touch to our penguins, by giving them eyes. The paintings are so brilliant that I am going to laminate them before adding them to our walls.
Next we worked in our spelling groups.
Two groups worked on Spelling City,
one group worked on their reading Box
and the last group worked on the iPads using the Upwords app. This was different for the kids to work with as they were given certain letters to work with to form words.
As the app says ‘You and your opponents spell words with stackable letter tiles on the special game board to score points. Build words by playing letters across or down on the board and by stacking letters on top of letters already on the board to form new words. It’s this 3-dimensional game play that makes UPWORDS so unique and challenging to play.’ Until the students get used to it they played individually.

Hi everyone! I am very impressed with your wonderful art work. Your penguins are magnificent. No wonder Mrs Westwood wants to laminate them. My 5/6 class also love working with spelling apps on the ipad. Their favourite is the word mania app. You have to be quick though, because each game only lasts for three minutes! Keep up the great learning!
